RHTLaw Taylor Wessing Partner, Rizwi Wun, was interviewed by Channel 5 and Channel News Asia on the aftermath of oBike’s exit from Singapore. The full interviews were featured on Channel 5’s News 5 and Channel News Asia’s Singapore Tonight segment on 28 June 2018.

Users and investors were left in limbo following the termination of oBike’s services from Singapore. On top of withholding the initial mandatory deposit, the bicycle-sharing firm is also holding on to personal data of over 1 million users in Singapore. In the interviews, Rizwi talked about a consumer’s rights to data protection and explained how data ownership is an asset that could be monetised or sold as a commodity to other organisations.

The videos for the full interviews can be found here (9:39 onwards) for News 5 and here (8:06 onwards) for Singapore Tonight.
