Taylor Wessing elects new Managing Partner in Germany

Dr Wolfgang Rehmann has handed over Taylor Wessing’s management in Germany after more than ten years to Michael-Florian Ranft, who was elected at a partner meeting held on 22 March in Hamburg. Prior to this appointment, Florian Ranft was the International Head of Taylor Wessing’s China-Group. He has been building up the firm’s China practice since 1996 and in that time has developed it into a world-wide leading group for international China business. 49-year-old Florian Ranft will continue to drive the focus of the firm forward and work to raise Taylor Wessing’s international profile, where the firm has lately set another milestone in Asia through the admission of RHT Law to Taylor Wessing in Singapore; followed closely by one in Europe with the addition of eight new offices in the CEE through a merger with e/n/w/c. “As Managing Partner for Taylor Wessing Germany I consider it my foremost task to position our excellent expertise even more selectively and to further increase its perception in the market”, says Florian Ranft. “We offer our clients a broad portfolio of legal services with first-rate quality. With our international set up, which focuses on Europe, the Middle East and Asia, we are a natural partner for major international corporations and the upper German mittelstand, which we have significant experience in supporting in its expansion to new production and distribution markets. I look forward to working with my fellow Managing Partners in continuing to develop Taylor Wessing as a leading international law firm.” Florian Ranft will be supported by his fellow partners Dr Torsten van Jeger, Christoph Vaupel, Dr Andreas Wirth and Dr Jörg Wimmers, who act as managing directors sitting on the firm’s German board. Tim Eyles, Managing Partner for Taylor Wessing in the UK, is looking forward to working with Florian Ranft: “Florian has been very successful as a lawyer, has developed our China practice to a leading position and has held various management positions to great effect to date.” Tim Eyles also thanked Wolfgang Rehmann for the successful collaboration on the development of Taylor Wessing: “Wolfgang has made a major contribution both to the development of Taylor Wessing in Germany and to the progression of the firm internationally.” Wolfgang Rehmann, being one of the leading lawyers for pharmaceutical and medical products law, will now fully return to client work.
