Partner (Foreign Lawyer)
Amanda is a Partner in RHTLaw Taylor Wessing’s Capital Markets Practice and heads the International China Practice. Prior to 2017, she was also an appointed Registered Professional with RHT Capital Pte. Ltd., an approved continuing sponsor on Catalist, the sponsor-supervised board of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited.
She has been working as a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore since 2003, specialising in the laws of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Previously, she practiced law in the PRC for four years and subsequently pursued her Masters degree in Australia. Her main area of expertise is in transactions involving PRC elements such as initial public offerings (IPOs), mergers and acquisitions (M&As), joint ventures and foreign direct investments.
Amanda has been involved in the IPOs and listing of leading companies from various industries on the regional stock exchanges, including SGX-ST, Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Malaysia Stock Exchange and Indonesia Stock Exchange. Her notable capital markets transactions included acting for CW Group Holdings (a precision engineering solutions provider and machine tool manufacturer and distributor) on its IPO and listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange; acting for Yihua Lifestyle Technology Co., Ltd. (listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, formerly known as Guangdong Yihua Timber Industry Co., Ltd.) on its privatisation and delisting of HTL International Holdings Limited (listed on the Mainboard of the SGX-ST); and acting for SIIC Environment Holdings Ltd. (listed on the Mainboard of the SGX-ST) on its acquisitions of various water treatment companies in the PRC.
With around 20 years working experience in both PRC and Singapore, Amanda has gained extensive industry knowledge and experience across many different industries such as water treatment, healthcare, education, precision engineering, manufacturing and real estate etc.
As a registered foreign lawyer specialised in the PRC laws, Amanda works closely with partners from other practice groups to serve clients on private wealth, banking and finance, dispute resolution and intellectual property legal matters.
Amanda was also a speaker and moderator of panel discussions at seminars and conferences on topics relating to China employment law reforms, regulatory updates on FDI in China, and internal controls and risk management among others. Recently she was interviewed by Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore’s largest Chinese-language newspaper, where she commented about direct listing of PRC companies on the SGX-ST. In recent years, she has been representing RHTLaw Taylor Wessing to participate in a China Investment Seminar, organised by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry in conjunction with various Chinese authorities from the respective PRC cities, where the seminar is held in four cities in China annually. In July 2017, Amanda attended the One Belt One Road Legal Services International Cooperation Forum in Chengdu, China.
