Taylor Wessing UK has won the award for European Trade Mark Firm of the Year at the 2016 Managing IP Global Awards, organised by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP), a leading global resource for IP news and analysis.
Now in its eleventh year, the Managing IP Global Awards are the culmination of MIP’s five month-long World IP Survey – using market research, client feedback and in-depth interviews to pinpoint the firms, individuals and corporations excelling in IP across Asia-Pacific, Europe and Latin America.
The Taylor Wessing IP team works with a number of high profile clients across a range of sectors including technology, fashion, retail and food and drink.
This year, alongside winning Trade Mark Firm of the Year, Taylor Wessing was nominated for three other awards including UK Firm of the Year for Patent Litigation, European Patent Firm of the Year and European Copyright Firm of the Year.
Olaf Gillert, head of the international Trade Marks team said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award and it is an honour to be recognised by experts who research the market so thoroughly. This award is a testament to the hard work of our IP group across all of our offices and illustrates our high-quality service and continued innovation.”
Today, 8th March marks the International Women’s Day. Observed since the early 1900’s, this day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the globe. Here at RHTLaw Taylor Wessing and the RHT Group of Companies, we hold the same beliefs and make it a priority to help our female colleagues achieve their ambitions. We respect and value women in the workplace, believe in gender-balanced leadership, and aim to develop a more inclusive and flexible work-life balance culture for women to root out workplace bias.
Various measures have been set in place to support diversity and ensure that our work structure supports our female colleagues. For instance, we understand that being a young mother and balancing work can be a handful. Technologies embraced and implemented by our IS team, such as BlackBerry, PDAs and web-based email systems, allow young mothers to spend a portion of their time working from home.
We have also implemented a Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) policy which all female colleagues, other than young mothers, can apply for. With this policy set in place as well as the support of both the law firm and the group of companies, we are proud to say that some of our ambitious female colleagues have accomplished commendable achievements, being great role models to others despite their hectic work schedules.

In celebration of the International Women’s Day, we hosted our inaugural morning tea appreciation session yesterday in our offices for all female colleagues. Founding member and former president of the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE), Ms Zaibun Siraj graced the event as a guest speaker and gave an inspiring motivational talk on the important role women play in society today as a working woman, sister, daughter, wife and mother.
As today marks the International Women’s Day, let us all take some time to reflect on the progress made and celebrate the acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of Singapore, RHTLaw Taylor Wessing and the RHT Group of Companies.
