Amita Dutt is one of the founding members of RHTLaw Taylor Wessing.
Having more than 20 years of experience, her unique combination of a law degree and MBA early in her career has enabled her to provide commercially-sound solutions to legal issues. Her unique experience includes working in jurisdictions other than Singapore – Hong Kong from 1993 to 1994 as an in-house Legal Counsel for an American MNC, and Dubai, UAE, from 2008 to 2009 to develop alliances for her law firm partners.
Her work includes advising corporates and individuals in the acquisition, disposition, management, ownership and leasing of residential, industrial and commercial property both overseas and in Singapore.
Amita also acts for banks and finance companies in lending transactions, and reviewing and drafting banking-related documents.
For the last decade or so, Amita has seen herself focusing on working with private banks and their high net worth customers in various wealth management matters ranging from wealth accumulation and preservation to developing and implementing strategies for succession.
Her efforts have been recognised in the 2008 edition of “Who’s Who Legal-Singapore 2008” by the International Bar Association, who identified her as being one of the top Real Estate lawyers, with the following quote: “Dutt’s practice is ‘very strong in all areas’, with a particular focus on private client real estate.”
In 2010 and 2011, Amita was nominated by her peers and the in-house counsel as one of the outstanding practitioners in Euromoney’s ‘Guide to the World’s Leading Real Estate Lawyers’. In that same 2010, AsiaLaw recognised her as a Leading Lawyer in Banking and Real Estate.
In 2012, Amita was recognised by the Acquisition International Legal Awards under Banking & Finance in Singapore. In 2013, they presented her with their ‘Legal Adviser of the Year’ Award.
In 2016, Amita is presented with International Real Estate Excellence awarded by Wealth and Finance International.
Amita loves art and is herself an artist. She has participated in several exhibitions and sells her works to raise money for various charities. Her works are exhibited at the Art Expo Malaysia 2014 and the November 2014 Affordable Art Fair in Singapore.
She serves on the Board of the Ronald McDonald House Charity Singapore which takes care of the parents of sick children in the Singapore community. In following her passion, her next steps are facilitating the further development of Art Law in Singapore and Philanthropy.
